Join Sahara Breeze as Najia lead us into a 2 hour mini-workshop in Drum Solo Basics. Those of you who have seen any of her "Magnificent" performances are in for a treat as she take us from 0 - 100 mph with pops, drops, locks and lifts. NAJIA (Donna Vronek) began studying Middle Eastern dance about 28 years ago. It quickly became her passion, not just the dance but also the music. She soon began performing professionally, and for many years danced in Arabic
and Greek clubs and restaurants in Richmond, Washington DC, and Williamsburg, usually always with a live band.

During her "professional" period, she appeared in several commercials for local restaurants, was interviewed in the newspaper and on radio, had a 15-minute segment on Channel 35 devoted to her with interview and performance, promoted "Zorba the Greek" when it appeared at the Carpenter Center, and was the subject of a video produced by a member of the VCU
Visual Arts Department. She has performed at least 2,500 "Belly Grams".

NAJIA is a long-time member of the Women of Selket Middle Eastern Dance Troupe and is the current President. Although she rarely performs in clubs now, she still enjoys dancing at parties and functions. She is a favorite among the Arabic community because of her Egyptian style of dancing. She is known for her shimmies and sharp hip articulation, and has been nicknamed
the "lock queen".

NAJIA gets her greatest pleasure now out of inspiring new students and instilling in them her appreciation of this art form and the self-confidence that transpires. She feels that Belly Dancing is the ultimate expression of femininity as it empowers all women to be strong and
beautiful.

NAJIA considers herself an eternal student of the dance and attends as many
workshops as she can, learning from master instructors.
